We designed our Loyalty plugin to help merchants strengthen customer retention and maximise revenue. By offering a loyalty program, merchants transform the shopping experience into a cycle of engagement and loyalty. Customers will not only feel recognised, but will also be motivated to return and spend more.

This article provides a straightforward guide on how to subscribe to the loyalty plugin, how to install the loyalty widgets, and how to troubleshoot common issues in the loyalty plugin setup process.

Subscribing to the Loyalty plugin
The Loyalty plugin is billed separately from other Froonze modules. You can manage your subscription from the Subscription page inside the app.
Accessing the app subscription page

Our app dashboard has a dedicated page where merchants can subscribe, unsubscribe and update their plan.

1. Sign in to your “Shopify admin” and access the “Apps” option.
2. Search for our app and go to the Subscription page.

You can pin our app to the sidebar for easy access in the future.

3. This page lists all of our available plugins, their pricing plans, and the option to enable each individually.

Choosing a loyalty plugin plan

Our loyalty plugin plans are based on monthly orders and desired features, with a free plan available.

1. Scroll to the “Loyalty program” section and toggle on the “Activate” option next to it.
2. Review the available plans:
  • Free – Up to 100 orders/month. Includes points and store credit.

  • Advanced – Up to 500 orders/month. Adds VIP program, referral program, and various integrations.

  • Premium – Up to 1000 orders/month. Includes customer tag blacklist and all lower-tier features.

  • Unlimited – Unlimited orders. All features included.

In case a store’s monthly orders exceed the maximum allocated order count within a plan, that option will not be available for selection.

3. Select the plan that best fits your store’s needs by clicking the appropriate option.

By hovering over the “?” tooltip, you can view how many orders your store had in the past 30 days. This information comes directly from the Shopify API.

4. Once selected, click the “Update” button and then “Ok” in the disclaimer pop-up. This will redirect you to the “approval page”.

Approving the loyalty plugin app charges

You will need to perform several steps to ensure that you’ve successfully subscribed to the loyalty plugin.

1. Review the following details:
  • Plan name – e.g., Loyalty (Unlimited).

  • Subscription details – monthly cost (e.g., $60 USD every 30 days).

  • Free trial – we offer a 14-day free trial on all paid Loyalty plans. During this time, a charge will appear on the bill from Shopify, but merchants won’t really be charged.

The free trial is available only for first-time subscriptions; applies to the entire app, not just a specific plugin; and starts from the moment a merchant subscribes to any paid plan from any plugin.

  • Payment method – choose an existing card, add a new card, or use PayPal.
2. Verify that everything matches your chosen plan.
3. Click the “Approve” button on the right-hand panel to confirm.

Once approved, the loyalty plugin is officially active and ready to install in your store.

Installing the Loyalty plugin

Once your subscription is active, the next step is to install the loyalty app block so it appears in your store. Without this step, the loyalty widgets won’t be visible to customers.

Enabling the loyalty main app block

While we offer different loyalty widgets, the most important one is the required main app block.

1. The app block can be installed from our app’s Loyalty ➜ Installation ➜ Main app block (required) tab.
2. Select your “target theme” and click the “Install” button. You’ll be redirected to Shopify’s “theme editor”.

The loyalty app block will be enabled automatically in the theme editor.

3. Click the “Save” button in the top-right corner of the theme editor.

This will ensure that the loyalty floating widget is visible on your store.

Adding the new accounts loyalty extension

Stores that have adopted Shopify’s New Customer Accounts instead of the Legacy version can enable our loyalty extension in the new customer account page.

  1. The loyalty extension can be installed from our app’s Loyalty ➜ Installation ➜ New Customer Accounts widget tab.

  2. Follow the “steps” on the “installation page” to add the “page”, as well as the navigation “menu item”.

  3. Remember to “save” the changes to ensure they propagate.

This will enable the loyalty extension on the new customer account page.

Inserting the loyalty product page widget

Merchants can insert our loyalty product page widget to inform customers how many points or store credit they can earn for purchasing a product.

  1. The loyalty product widget can be inserted from our app’s Loyalty ➜ Installation ➜ Product page widget tab.

  2. Select your “target theme” and click the “Install” button. You’ll be redirected to Shopify’s “theme editor”.

  3. Once happy with the placement, “save” the changes to ensure the widget appears on the storefront.

The loyalty product widget will be inserted automatically inside the product template in the theme editor; however, it can be manually repositioned by dragging it up or down.

Add the Loyalty checkout extension (Shopify Plus) to the Shopify Checkout page
Our loyalty checkout extension can be added to your Shopify Plus store checkout page. This offers your customers another way to view their point balances, apply existing loyalty discount codes, and redeem points right before completing their purchase.
  1. Navigate to our app’s Loyalty ➜ Installation ➜ Checkout widget tab.
  2. Access the Shopify Checkout & Accounts Editor mode.
  3. Find the Checkout widget block under Apps.
  4. Press the Plus (+) button and Add to Checkout option.
  5. Press the Checkout widget and toggle the Include block in Shop Pay under the Checkout behavior option if you use Shop Pay on your store.
  6. Press Save to propagate changes to your store.
This feature is available on our Loyalty Unlimited plan for $60/month, and only Shopify Plus merchants can use it due to limitations imposed entirely by Shopify. Essentially, Shopify allows only Shopify Plus merchants to modify their checkout page and add widgets to it.

Troubleshooting issues with the loyalty plugin

The loyalty app block's automatic installation didn’t work. How can I manually install the loyalty app block?

If the automatic installation fails, you can follow these steps to enable the loyalty app block manually:

    1. Access the “theme editor” of the theme where you want the loyalty app block installed.

    2. In the theme editor, open the “App embeds” panel from the left sidebar.

    3. Toggle on the “Loyalty & Referrals” option.

    4. Click “Save” in the top-right corner of the theme editor.

Store credit isn’t showing as a payment option at checkout. How can I enable store credit on Shopify?

Store credit requires Shopify’s New Customer Accounts. If you’re still using Legacy Customer Accounts, customers won’t see store credit as a payment method. You need to switch to the new version:
    1. In your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Customer accounts.

    2. Switch to “New customer accounts”.

    3. Save your changes.

    4. Test the checkout again — store credit should now appear as a payment option.

If you’ve already enabled New Customer Accounts and still don’t see the option, review your spending rules in Loyalty → Program settings to make sure a store credit rule is active.

For a full walkthrough, see our dedicated Store Credit Loyalty: Overview and Setup guide.

Customers aren’t being assigned to VIP tiers. How can customers become VIP members?

If customers aren’t moving into the correct VIP tier, the program may not be fully configured or activated. You can check the settings:

    1. The dashboard can be accessed from our app’s Loyalty ➜ Program ➜ VIP tab.

    2. Confirm that the “activation toggle” is switched on.

    3. Check the “Entry method” dropdown (points, total spent, or order count) and make sure customers are meeting the milestone you set.

    4. Review the “Progress expiry” setting — if it’s set to calendar or rolling periods, some customers may not qualify yet.

    5. Allow up to 10 minutes after activation for customer tiers to update.

For a detailed walkthrough of tier setup and troubleshooting, see our dedicated VIP Program: Overview and Setup guide.

I set up the VIP program to reward more points for VIP tiers. Will the loyalty product widget show the updated amount?
Our loyalty product widget checks if a VIP tier has the “Place an order” earning rule enabled, and will show the correct values.

The loyalty product widget doesn’t consider the limits set for the “Place an order” earning rule (general or tier-specific).

It’s imperative that, in case a limit is set, the customer is informed. This can be achieved by updating the text elements from our app’s Loyalty ➜ Program ➜ Translations tab.

Referral rewards aren’t being granted to the referrer. How can I ensure customers are rewarded for referrals?

If rewards aren’t showing up, it usually means the referral conditions haven’t been met. You should check the referral program:

    1. The dashboard can be accessed from our app’s Loyalty ➜ Program ➜ Referrals tab.

    2. Make sure the “activation toggle” is turned on.

    3. Check that the “Referrer’s reward” is configured and active.

    4. Confirm that the “Friend reward” was set up correctly (the new customer must use their coupon on their first order).

    5. Ensure the friend checks out with the same email address they used to claim their referral coupon.

The reward is only granted once the referred friend’s order is completed and fulfilled.

For more details, see our dedicated Referrals Program: Overview and Setup guide.

My loyalty plan option is greyed out, or I see an “exceeded orders” message. What does this mean?
If you can’t select a plan, it usually means your store has already exceeded the monthly order limit for that plan. This happens due to various reasons:
    • Our plans are based on the number of orders in the past 30 days (pulled directly from Shopify’s API).

    • If your store imported historical orders (e.g., during migration), these can push your count above the plan’s limit.

    • Once the order limit is exceeded, that plan is no longer selectable.

Please contact our support, and we’ll help resolve the issue.

I don't see the loyalty checkout widget. Why is that?

The Loyalty Checkout Widget is a feature available on our highest Loyalty paid plan and only for Shopify stores subscribed to Shopify's Plus plan. This is a limitation imposed by Shopify and out of Froonze's control. For more details, see our dedicated Loyalty Checkout Extension: Overview and Setup guide.
